Opening Day
On Opening Day, check-in will take place between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Parents will be able to take a shuttle with their camper into Crestridge to help them get settled before the session begins!
If your camper is flying in, or you are interested in learning more about having your daughter fly in, please scroll down to the "Airport Arrival" section.
If, for some unforeseen reason such as traffic, you are going to be arriving late, please contact our office at 828.669.2613 and notify the camp leadership what time you plan on arriving.
What to expect: Please follow the directional signs once you get off the interstate. You will be directed to the back gate at the Ridgecrest Conference Center. After a temperature and forms check, we will unload your luggage for you. You will then follow the signs to the location where you can park. Then, follow the signs to the shuttle area where a bus will take you to Crestridge. The shuttle service does not allow dogs on the buses, so please do not bring your dog on the trip. The shuttle will drop you off at the Barn where your camper will receive their lice check and have an opportunity to change skills. You can then head up the hill to your daughter's cabin to get her settled. One your way, stop by the Beehive to visit our clothing store! We ask that parents depart camp by 12:00PM. The last shuttle will leave Crestridge at 12:00PM. Campers will eat lunch soon after check-in closes. We will not be providing lunch for parents or other family members. More information about Opening Day will be sent via email before you arrive!
If you are staying at the Ridgecrest Conference Center before Opening Day, please follow the same instructions as above.
Closing Day
Please follow the same traffic pattern as Opening Day. The gates will be open from 9:30AM-11:30AM.
What to expect: Please follow the directional signs once you get off the interstate. You will be directed to the back gate at the Ridgecrest Conference Center. Before entering the gate, our camp staff will ask to see your ID so we can verify you are the one who is supposed to pick up your child. Then, our camp staff will direct you through the gate to luggage pick-up. Your luggage will be loaded into your vehicle for you. After getting your luggage, follow the directional signs to park and load the shuttle. Each village will have a specific pick-up location in camp. You will receive that information on closing morning as you load the bus. There will be no closing program. The Beehive will be open during this time. Visit the clothing store one more time before you head home! We ask that all campers be picked up by 11:30AM.
All campers staying for multiple sessions will still need to be pickd up following the instructions above.
Airport Arrivals and Departures
While almost all campers arrive by car, flying into the Asheville Airport may be an option for some families. The camp does not assume responsibility for arranging transportation to camp, but we are more than willing to assist in this matter. Consult your airline agent for schedules. Your child will need to fly into the Asheville/Hendersonville airport (AVL).
Campers should plan on flying in on the Sunday of Opening Day, and flying out on the Friday of Closing Day. Closing Day flights must be scheduled for 3 PM or earlier.
Please do not schedule a flight home for your child on Closing Day
after 3 PM. If you do, we will contact you to change your flight, at
your expense. If you plan to fly in to pick up your camper, please
leave enough travel time to arrive at camp during our normal pickup window (see times listed above). There is a $50 per
camper (each way) transportation fee for those who are flying children
to and/or from camp.
Campers will be met at the airport if we are notified in advance of arrival times. You may do this by filling out the Arrival/Departure Form
online. All luggage should be clearly marked on the exterior for easy
identification in the terminal. If your child is young, you may need to
use an unaccompanied minor form, so that they will be helped by airline
personnel. If you choose to do this, please make sure that you pay for
this service, traveling both to camp and returning home as well. Check
with your particular airline for rules/regulations concerning
unaccompanied minors. Some airlines do not allow younger children to fly
alone. If they request a name for the camp person picking your child
up, please indicate Phil Berry, PO Box 279, Ridgecrest, NC 28770. You
can give them the camp phone number for his number at (800) 968-1630.
Camp
representatives will meet each child at the terminal, help gather their
luggage, and transport them to camp. The camp will also transport the
child back to the terminal upon departure, and will make all necessary
luggage arrangements. It is critical that we get the proper travel
information from the parents by the stated deadlines on the forms page.
If
we have a large amount of campers arriving by plane, we may have to
transport their luggage to camp in a separate vehicle at a later time.
Therefore, his luggage may not arrive until the late afternoon. It would
be best for your camper to carry a change of clothes or bathing suit
with him on the plane to have easily accessible when he arrives at camp.
