Anne was a long-time camper and is so excited to be back this summer as a counselor!
What is something you could give a 20 minute presentation about no hesitation?
I love all things painting, art, and books, so I could definitely go on and on about those things! I have always enjoyed doing all types of arts and crafts, and will read absolutely anything I can get by hands on. My favorite book is Shadow of the Almighty, a biography on Jim Elliot, which I could talk about for forever!
POV you're driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway. Windows down. What song are you listening to?
Take Me Home by Josiah Queen
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
My dream job when I was little was to be a missionary to Kenya Africa. When I was five, I adopted a girl from Kenya through the Compassion International program, and I fell in love with everything about the place, people, and missionary life. I also wanted to work for NASA.
What's your favorite Bible story?
I think my all time favorite Bible story is the Prodigal Son. While we hear it all the time in sermons, I feel like I learn something new every time I read it and listen to people talk about it. I think it is relatable and convicting. We love to run from God, thinking we know better than Him. We squander all our treasure and, instead, dwell in the riches the world has to offer, like the younger son did. But God does not wait for us. He chases us down. We are also like the older son who is lost in his own self righteousness. Our God doesn't stop at what we deserve, and I think that is the beautiful meaning of this story. It shows how faithless we are but how faithful God is.
As the Lord is preparing your heart for this summer, what's your biggest prayer?
My biggest prayer is that the girls at camp will get to encounter God in a brand new and special way. He is always present walking hand in hand with us, but we tend to forget about this as we get caught in the motions of our daily lives. My prayer is that the girls will see and experience the God who never stops fighting for them, who loves them with a love unimaginable. I hope the girls leave with a renewed heart and a longing to get to know their Father even better.
