This is Bates' first summer at Camp! She is so excited to be here & to share the love of Jesus with campers this summer!

If you were a pasta shape, what would you be and why?

I think I would have to go with macaroni. It is a little bit basic but also such a classic! You can never have too many macaroni noodles, and of course they are necessary for mac and cheese… one of the greatest foods on the planet.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?

1. Visit Africa! I went on a mission trip to Uganda last summer and absolutely fell in love with the people and place. 2. Learn how to surf! I have never sat on a surfboard, but it sounds super cool. 3. See Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour! I don’t think I am dedicated enough to be a “Swiftie,” but “You Belong With Me” has been one of my top songs for easily the past four years.

If animals could drive, which animal would be the best and why?

I think giraffes would be the best drivers, partly because who wouldn’t want to see a giraffe sitting in a car, but also because they are so tall and would always be able to see the road.

What's your favorite Bible verse and why?

My favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:3-5. It talks about how each of our circumstances build character and strengthen our hope. Then that hope will not fail us because we are hoping in something much bigger than this world and our current situation. No matter what we are going through, God will remain faithful and keep His promises. These verses have been a huge comfort especially as I transitioned into college this past year. Romans 5:3-5: Not only that but we rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character and character produces hope and hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

What are you praying for in anticipation for this summer?

My main prayer for this summer is that both the campers and staff would develop real, meaningful friendships with one another. Camp friends become your family for the weeks you are there. I pray that everyone involved with camp will form a strong Christ-centered community that seeks to build up those around them and point others to Jesus.
